Carry me home upon my shield
To where the endless sky
Looks down on fields and streams
Where in I played in seasons
Filled with dreams
Gone now before the weeping
Mother who bore the babe
And the boy
Before I walked down the road
To where the world began;
Carry me home and lay me
Among the trees that sheltered
The youth now laid upon a red shield,
Sing the songs that comfort
Before you fold me in the earth
To spend eternity beneath the
Silent dreaming skies.
