Speak softly in this twilight
For you are close to me
And I can feel the breath you breathe
As when a breeze caresses,
Tell me the fables you carry
Of distant shores where never have I tread,
Hold me close as dusk falls
Softening all that went before,
We have but these moments
To embrace when gentleness is ours,
Let no one enter here within
For this is the realm wherein we dwell
A land foreign to all others,
Kiss me gently that I may know
That truth you declare is for me alone,
For when sleep comes we must trust
To awaken with a love that holds
Beyond the twilight hours.
